ABOUT

Art of the Bayou (formerly Stories from the Good Earth) is a documentary project by and about emerging South Louisiana artists. Currently in production, the non-commercial project uses inter-disciplinary and experimental art to explore the past, present, and future of South Louisiana.

We’re in the early stages of producing a series of short video profiles of local artists and a series of experimental-documentary shorts that connect creative interpretations of South Louisiana to interviews with locals about our region. Andrea Dupree is executive producer and creative director of the project.

The goal of the project is to showcase local artists and cultural workers, promote cultural tourism, and give the world yet another reason why South Louisiana is worth protecting.

A project of the Houma Regional Arts Council, we are supported by an Artworks grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, and the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Terrebonne Parish Tourism Recovery Event Sponsorship Program, which is administered through the Houma Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Walter Williams is donating his time as technical advisor to the project.
